Error;Extreme Vibration Level

I am getting the "Error;Extreme Vibration Level" in the logs pretty much the entire flight. This is a 8S Tron Dnamic helicopter flown mostly at 1600rpm. I originally built this helicopter with a Spirit GTR unit, and it was flying fine. I replaced the Spirit GTR with a V2 EVO unit which is showing these "Error;Extreme Vibration Level" messages in the logs. I checked the main shaft, spindle shaft, and tail shaft with a 0.0005in dial indicator, and the indicator needle did not move at all when I spun the shafts. I tested all the bearings before assembling the helicopter. The helicopter now has 45 flights, so I would think all the parts have worn in by now. The major issue I encountered is that despite having a level swash at mid/high/low collective stick and attaining an optimal fore/aft center of gravity by shifting the 8S 4000mah battery pretty forward, the helicopter starts to lean back on the ground while spooling; the tail fin will drop until it contacts the ground. It leans back when I hover upright, but it leans forward when I hover inverted. I conducted an "AutoTrim", and it ended with an elevator trim of "+102". Thinking that this could be a faulty EVO unit, replaced the EVO with another EVO unit, and the weird elevator issue needing trimming persisted.

With this "+102" elevator trim, the helicopter is flying really well fairly well. It no longer leans back during spoolup either. The only issue I notice is that the helicopter begins to lean back during flight if I "bang" the collective stick up and down several times.

I am posting this issue here because I have never experienced this elevator behavior in other helicopters before and I am getting the "Error;Extreme Vibration Level" message in the logs. I am wondering how to approach this.

Well - the nowdays "too" stiff helicopters are a challenge for all sensors.

Is there some screenshots available of the vibration analysis in a hover?

As best with the pro value pack on the elevator sensor in this case.

Hi,

by comparison, what did the logs from the Spirit GTR show?

If you get such a high auto trim value, this could either be because the VBar properly senses that this trim is required, or because the vibration levels even in a hover are adverse enough to interfere even with the gyros.
The cross check with a different VBar EVO pretty much takes those out of the equation.
To check for vibration issues during the trim flight, cancel the +102 and trim accordingly, manually, in setup (approx. same swash plate deflection), then trim-fly again. If this value was considerably lower now (which I'd expect), it's pretty much proof that this trim is indeed necessary.
Maybe it trims even more now, and maybe the leaning-back issue also becomes less ...

If the tail drops, the heli leans backwards, with a couple of collective pitch pumps, it's normally evidence for either an off center of gravity, or an off elevator pre-compensation value, or maybe even for a bad servo (suspect, the single servo).

In addition to the screenshots Rainer asked for, I'd also be curious to see a couple of clear, informative photos from the model, showing the servo/swash plate/main rotor layout, and the layout of the electronics. Clear, informative, compared to artistic winking smiley

Kind regards

After fiddling with this some more, it turns out the real problem causing the helicopter to lean back during flight was a bad servo.

I replaced all 3 cyclic servos, and now the helicopter is performing really well as expected. It is performing so well, I forgot to check vibrations levels. smileys with beer
