Vcontrol Touch Evo buddyboxing

I'm helping a buddy out to start flying helis.

Set up using Crossover Buddyboxing

Heli= logo 550
Master Vcontrol evo
Vbar neo
Futaba R7008SB reciever linked to Aux 1

All works on the bench fine. I have 2 saved setups on vcontrol. 1. Logo 550 (aux 1 sbus on I/O setup disabled) 2. Logo 550 trainer (aux 1 sbus on I/O setup)

We set off and my mate is hovering fine in buddy mode on. Then later on in the flight the heli kept coming towards us. I took over and had to give a lot of forward elevator to stop it. I landed checked everything mechanical and couldn't find anything wrong. I took off and done a trim flight. Even in a trim flight you can tell vbar is trying to add forward elevator and for a short time the heli sits still.. then not long after keeps pulling back towards me. I land the heli thinking maybe this is a software glitch. So I go back into my other set up 1. Logo 550 where aux 1 sbus on I/O setup is turned off. Take off and everything is working normal. So this is only doing it in the buddy profile with aux sbus assigned.

Since this I have done some more investigation. On the bench without the buddy transmitter on and the vcontrol master buddy switch pushed to the furthest down position the Swash starts slowly rolling back elevator. So I decided to recalibrate the horizon and offset. That seemed to of solved the elevator moving by itself on the bench, time will tell if this is solved in flight.

My second thing I'm noticing is that when the buddy switch on the master vcontrol is pushed from the bottom position to the middle position the pitch changes. I cant seem to figure out why it's doing this and what I'm doing wrong. There is no documentation on vstabi for vcontrol touch that I can find. I have attached a video I uploaded to youtube which I took before recalibrating the horizon and offset. Beginner mode is set on the buddy switch and the buddy switch is assigned correctly.

Has anyone got some advice and what maybe causing this problem?

Hi,

some thoughts: are you using Rescue, maybe on the same switch as Buddy, so you can 'pull through' in case you wouldn't be able to save it yourself?
Is beginner mode also enabled (not only Rescue)?
If so, Beginner Mode would be active in Buddy, normal flying in Center (which is als Master), Rescue in Master.
This in turn could explain why re-calibrating the horizon did the trick, and why pitch changes (negative it is reduced, in beginner mode, for safety reasons).

Please also check/re-do the stick calibration. If it was off too much, this could also cause drift effects between the two transmitters.

Kind regards

I am not using rescue as rescue is in Buddy mode only. So rescue doesn't work. But yes I am using the same switch for rescue and buddy. One profile I have rescue selected and the trainer profile I have beginner active only. So this shouldn't cause a problem should it? I shouldn't have rescue in master as I have selected beginner only in set up. I'm using switch 6.

Hi,

well, try and error. Disable Rescue, or use the same settings for both, and compare.

You're the first I notice who's switching setups, between the two configurations.

Please also attach the setup files here, or point us to your cloud (serial no.).

One real thing is: the channel configuration of a third party transmitter must be according to e.g. the menus in the setup software: direction, center, travels. And in the buddy transmitter, there must also be no mixing or offset active, e.g. in different flight modes. Same goes for trims.

Also, if the third party transmitter was showing drift or other effects, the center positions between the two would also go adrift, resulting in ... drift.

Solved the problem. I made a big and stupid mistake of assigning buddy and rescue to the same switch. I now understand. Apologies and thankyou

thumbs up no worries!

Thought so winking smiley

I mean, you can do that, as being said, switch position A Buddy-no Rescue, position 0 Master-no Rescue, position B Master-Rescue (or the reverse), so you can let Rescue assist you just in case. But if you get it wrong, you might get such strange effects.
