VControl Evo no online functionality via Wifi

Hello,

few days ago my new VControl Touch Evo arrived. Unfortunately I am not able to use shop or any online functionality via Wifi. I was able to register the device and install apps via USB connection to my computer and VControl Manager desktop app. Thanks to that I am able to use the transmitter to fly my helicopters but I would like the Wifi to work.

Wifi status shows connected (1st picture). There’s a red dot in wifi list. Is that correct? Usually red means an error…

Wifi symbol on main page (2nd picture) shows this symbol which is hard for me to interpet. Should the Wifi icon shows the signal strength or is it normal to be grey?

In Settings menu the transmitter seems to be Connected and Online (3rd picture).

VControl Update Manager also says Connected and Online (4th picture).

Start Update yields ++ sign in place of previously displayed OK (5th picture). No update happens and no error message is printed. Same happens whan I try to install any app from Shop.

I’ve tried to reboot the wifi router but that doesn’t help. There is no MAC filtering on the router. Other devices have no problem accessing the Internet.

I would appreciate any help to to solve this problem.

Could you provide a 2.4GHz hotspot with a smartphone and retry there?

Hello Rainer,

online access via wifi hotspot in the smartphone works (Pixel 7). For this test I've disabled the internet data access provided by gsm operator so that smartphone was just an hospot my home wifi network. Stange, this works. I've succesfully installed few apps.

Despite the fact that this way is a bit better than using USB cable I would still like to be able to conect the transmitter to the wifi network directly. Please, do you have any suggestion what to try next?

Hello Tomas,

nope - it seems there is a router/firewall setting active or something else we don't know in your network. Is there some restrictions for 2.4 Ghz? - The phone may pick up 5 Ghz and translate to 2.4 ...

You could probably delete your network from the VBCt (long press on the connection) and reconnect, sometimes this does the trick. Otherwise there might be a hint in your router logs about some blocking or other stuff.

I've repeated the test and make sure that the smartphone is using 2.4Ghz only. Apps install works. Any attempt to use the wifi directy from transmitter is failing, even after deleting the network and connecting again.

I will check the router settings and logs.
