Stock Canopy Magnets Came Loose

Does anyone know if I can get a replacement (large) canopy magnet?

I had one come loose when building it but epoxied it back on.

The second one seemed secure so I figured I would wait to see if it came loose before I reglued it on too.

Well, I brought my heli to work to show my coworkers and at some point (I was taking the canopy on and off to show the electronics install) and lost the second magnet.

We looked everywhere and can't find it.

I haven't even flown it yet sad smiley

Hi Dave,

sorry to hear. We do not stock spares for the canopies but the rubber grommets and the edge protectors, since we get the canopies ready for sale.
But I will check which size the magnets are and if I can find a source where to get them.

Hi Dave,

we will order magnets from the manufacturer of the canopies, I hope we can provide those in a couple of day's time (we get shipments almost every week). In the meantime, you could use tape or velcro tape to keep the canopy closed.

I will use tape until you get the magnets in.

Velcro has adhesive that will likely damage the canopy when trying to remove it.

I think the QC on the $130.00 canopies is a bit low. There have been multiple reports of magnets falling out and modifications needed to fit properly. Seems like the cutout around the swash area and the method used to secure the magnets are less than ideal, especially if I can't replace them when they fall out. Might be worth a look.

Here's a couple. I've also seen a FB picture recently of either Kyle or Mirko's canopy with spots removed in the same way. Not sure which it was but couldn't find it just now.

What is this JB Weld stuff, and does it hold? Different continents, different glues, maybe we or the manufacturer (who sits again on a different continent) can learn from it?

It's pretty much our fix everything over here in the states. There is a quick and a long set version too. There have been cases where the long set works better. This is what I and others use to secure the boom support ends as well.

One of my magnets came loose too. I think the problem is the surface is too smooth. I roughed it up with a file before gluing it back with 30 min epoxy.

We only have limited stock so we won't put the items into the shop, we want to keep them for 700-owners really in need smiling smiley
