A couple Mini Vbar v5.3 questions..
April 21, 2021 04:47PM
Finally some decent weather, to test fly my FBL Mini Titan build (450 size) fitted with the Mini vBar. A couple questions.

1) During tail setup, I was able to achieve a perfect setup as I understand it, 96/96. The tail seems to be holding well in all flight modes. Normal mode (2400 rpm), ST1 (2500) and ST2 (2600). Currently, I have the PC software configured to allow me to adjust tail gain remotely via my gyro sense function. The PC software does reflect a remote change, so it looks to be working. However, I have found that I can raise the tail gain to 100% without seeing a tail wag. Why is this? I have always known to use the method of finding wag, then backing off a few clicks for optimal tail performance.

2) Regarding Main Rotor Gain, what is the suggested method for finding the optimal performance?

Thank You,
Nick

1 - forget the oldschool method, not needed here. As soon as the tail does hold well and isn't noisy on a overspeed etc. all is ok.

2 - just as above - if it feels ok - it will be ok. Too much gain will cause e.g. a whipping heli after a stop.

How are you Rainer, appreciate it.

What do you mean by "a whipping heli after a stop"?

Like a bonucing forth and back - e.g. after a Flip at the Stop.

After a few test flights, although the heli flies nicely hovering upright and during forward flight circuits (smooth and stable). Once I flip her into inverted hover, she gets erratic. Struggles to find stability when inverted.

As mentioned, she is a 450 size machine, swinging 325mm mains at 2600 rpm governed via Castle Creations SET Mode. Current Mini Vbar Pro settings are as follows..

Main Rotor
Style = 90
Agility = 90
Gain = 45
Expert Parameters
Elevator PreComp = 8
Paddle Sim = 20

As a side note, could it be a governor gain adjustment? Currently, I have the governor gain defaulted to Low @ 15. But upright climb outs seem to hold RPM okay.

Thanks,

Hello,

might be either a too high gain or Style value - just try 5 points lower.

Are you referring to the main rotor gain or governor gain? The Vbar software suggests 60 for a Trex 450 (same size as my Mini Titan). So try going lower than 45?

Hmm, hadn't thought style could pose a problem. So try 5 points lower here too?

Thanks,

I am talking about main rotor, sorry. The Gain depends on the servos, dampening and head speeds as well - so just try lowering the gain and if no change try the style.
