Thank you Eddi- I think maybe the capacity of the Vcontrol was close to full. Even though the file is only 74kb, there was only 3mb free on the VControl. I emptied off nearly 10 years of log files and screen shots, copied the same file, and now it works. You verifying it worked on another Vcontrol was a good sign and definitely helped the troubleshooting. Have a great week! Cheers!by cudaboy_71 - Café
I just got the mikado temp sensor and wanted to put the value on my custom user screen. the function of the temp sensor is working fine. but, when i try to load a new custom userscreen the whole screen goes blank. i did turn off "disabled" the user screen by switch. I just want to assign a new screen showing the temperature now. luckily the default.usr still works as before--which stby cudaboy_71 - Café

I am following the instructions here: https://www.vstabi.info/en/node/2111 Everything is working fine, but I can not find any reference to the CNT field. What is this parameter that seems to default to ‘7’?by cudaboy_71 - Café
As a really old radio now, I'm finding it difficult to find information on specific menus for the classic VControl radio. I'm setting up the nitro sensor, and in Governor->Gov Setup there is: Sensor config (set up 2 for 1 magnet) Gear Ratio (self explanatory) Runup limit (3 default) The last two options I am unclear of Min throttle (30 default): What is this value declaring? Thank you. Looks like I just submitted after close of the office on Friday. I got approval today. Also, it would have been quicker if I knew the previous owner. So, it was necessary to submit for transfer. Thank you!by cudaboy_71 - Questions V5
I had a friend give me an old blue mini-vbar out of his toolbox. Yes! a real mikado vbar ;-) He has no idea where he got it; probably off of a helicopter he traded for years ago. He never flew vbar, so I asked for it and he happily made his toolbox 5 grams lighter. I have gone through the process of loading the old vstabi 5.3.4 software and getting a screenshot of the software running and showby cudaboy_71 - Questions V5
I've attached a screenshot of the log file of the flight. Luckily, I was able to auto down safely. But, during regular flight, the helicopter simply commanded hard right aileron without input. Also, in the log is shows a switch from bank 2 to bank 3; but, this was not commanded at the controller. Lastly, I am certain I hit rescue first, then motor off. But, only motor off is shown in the log.by cudaboy_71 - VBar VLink
this may be a dumb question. but, i have an oxy3 with 140t main and 10t pinion. gear ratio is 14, but vcontrol tops out at 12.9 how do i set the ratio for this gearing?by cudaboy_71 - Café
I always wait until all the bugs are worked out before hopping in and upgrading. I have vontrol-non touch and 4 NEO to upgrade. Is it safe to do so now, or are there still lots of issues being worked out with 6.4?by cudaboy_71 - Café
ok, i can try this next time I fly. However, winter weather is here now. supposed to rain all weekend :-( may be another week before I can try. thanks for the suggestions though.by cudaboy_71 - Café
sidenote: when I upload the .bmp files directly off of the vcontrol to my ftp account, the forum software does not accept it in the IMG code. error: scaling image type image/x-ms-bmp is not supported. So, I had to re-save and upload as .jpg.by cudaboy_71 - Café
the video and flight log sync up almost perfectly...video 0:00 is right when heli begins to spool up. So, the time stamp of this graph should match the video.by cudaboy_71 - Café
ok, so had a good maiden flight on Sunday. I only have one pack for that heli, and didn't bring the generator to the field. So, this flight is all I had time for. Didn't want to waste it doing a lot of take offs and landings tuning, so I just flew it to get a feel. Changing from a 2-blade head to 3-blade all I did was lower the HS from 2200 to 1800; lowered main rotor gain from 75 to 50 (66%);by cudaboy_71 - Café
I just remembered iPhone keeps deleted photos and videos for 30 days...just hidden very well. I was able to recover the video. the video goes dark for a few seconds when i put the phone down to plug in the battery. Normally I would have had my friend shoot the video, but you can hear him on the video talking to his phone carrier in the background about an order he placed. hrm...maybe is phonby cudaboy_71 - Café
First, I am aware of the issue of starting the vcontrol too near the antenna and the telemetry will disconnect. I'm almost certain this is not the case. Yesterday, I had already flown one flight fine. Then, I flew 3 other helicopters. I came back to the first. Here are the steps as they happened: 1. Turned on vcontrol (non-touch) 2. Plugged in 6s battery pack which energizes ESC and BEC 3by cudaboy_71 - Café
that's good to know. any suggestions for values? -30% from current? Not looking for something perfect...just something that will be flyable that I can tune.by cudaboy_71 - Café
Not sure if this belongs in VControl or Vbar forum. I'm using NEO-Resuce and VControl (non-touch) I want to upgrade my 700-class electric to a 3 blade head. I've never flown or set up a multi-blade helicopter before. Aside from regearing and lowering the headspeed, what else do I need to do in the setup? I imagine I might have to reduce main rotor gain and cyclic response. What is a gooby cudaboy_71 - Café
My NEO's plastic case has seen better days. I was going to replace it, and found the aluminum replacement case. But, it says V2 only. How do I tell if I have V2? If one of the admins can look on my account it’s the unit ending in **69 I have been able to research a few other threads and learned that v2 started around the 2007500 serial number. So, mine is almost definitely v1 as I aby cudaboy_71 - VBar NEO (non VLink)

I have a YGE120HV that went in to error code 5. The issue is resolved, but the beep code has to be manually cleared by initializing the ESC at high stick. Is there an easy/non-destructive (to my settings) way to do this on vcontrol? I can only think of going in to the ESC setup wizard and loading a new ESC again. But, this thing was such a PITA to get set up, I don't want to reset any valueby cudaboy_71 - Café
Thanks for the ideas Eddi/Rainer— Even after trying on my DX7 with a regular DSM receiver I could not get any response. And, I did verify with a servo--a micro I have hanging off of the test receiver for just that reason. And, no LED lights to go by either. I'm not sure where the LED is supposed to be, but even in the dark there is nothing. Maybe the older jives didn't have an LED? Whateverby cudaboy_71 - Café
I took your suggestion and just ignored the fact that there are no initialization tones. It seems strange that this would happen. But, that was a good suggestion. It absolutely worked. I just plugged in power, waited 10 seconds or so, and pulled out the jumper. THEN it immediately made the correct tones from there through the rest of the programming process (setting mode 1). following the kontronik instructions, the first thing that should happen--regardless of programming mode 1 or 4 or 11) when plugging power to the ESC is to wait 2 seconds until you hear the 4 motor tones before removing the jumper. I'm never getting these 4 tones. So, no way to program mode 1. I have about decided that this ESC is bad. I put on a spare Align ESC I had on the shelf as well andby cudaboy_71 - Café
So, I asked earlier about the vcontrol and gov. Seems nothing has changed at Kontronik. But, it's still a great ESC and gov. So, I decided to use it. I haven't used this ESC since before I started using Vcontrol in 2016. The ESC worked when it was shelved 3 years ago. So, no accounting for shelf-rot. I am assuming it is still good. I'm setting up a new model in Vcontrol. So, I loaded the neby cudaboy_71 - Café

Was there ever a reason airplane mode wouldn’t work with an external phase sensor? Does it just not work?by cudaboy_71 - Café
Old ESC, so lots of years-old info out there. I'm just wondering if anything has changed recently as far as disabling the GOV on the non-helijive ESCs. In the old days (5 years ago) the plain-old Jive ESCs could not have gov disabled--you either had to run mode 4 or 11 for heli. Therefore, Vbar GOV simply could not work, hence the heli-jives that came out shortly after. I'm just wondering iby cudaboy_71 - Café
Just want to open this discussion some more. After some weeks of flying, the poti1 mix has worked perfectly for me. Between flying electric and nitro helis, there is virtually no difference in starting procedure--which bit me before. But, I noticed that my engine seemed a bit sluggish and not keeping headspeed as well as before. After examining, I see that if the poti knob is turned down (backby cudaboy_71 - Café
