XLPower Stratos 200 Tri Blade.

After installing the just released update to the XLPower Tri Blade and 2 Blade. I’m getting erratic RPM and tons of Info;Governor is at Low Throttle Limit and Governor Full Throttle.

Turns out that the TTE (Tail Torque Extension) default setup was set too high at 125 when the previous setting was 45. Turning this back down to 80 fixed my issues. I’m still tuning it but this solved my Heli’s RPM slowing way down below 2300 RPM with hardly any authority.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I'm just relating from another post here (in German), which is pretty jumbled because it's not one-pilot one-topic, and because there are so many versions or modifications or different components around already.

There, the consensus seems to be, decrease TTE even more, 75-ish or even less.

Please also make sure you update your transmitter so you get the latest presets.

Unfortunately, we had to learn that the presets we optimized with the Stratos' we have on the table did not work for everyone, while they worked great for us. It also largely depends on the style of flying, or on the maneuvers you fly: while up to 80 % of the tail performance can be gained with TTE, it also has it's limitations, because to generate torque in one direction, you have to actively brake the motor.
This only goes so far, because with enough braking, the rotor will eventually slow down too much.
With less TTE I gather you will notice earlier that it's simply 'enough of that maneuver', the tail will eventually let go, but you will still have enough rpm in the main rotor.

Again, I'm just relating and adding two and two, I myself neither own a Stratos, nor could I push it to it's limits (or wouldn't, to any limit, just because smiling smiley).

Best,

Thanks for the quick update. I did update both the radio and model. As you mentioned, 75ish and below works great and clears the governor issues.

At 125 TTE even basic maneuvers gave continuous low and full throttle limits. I own both the two blade and Tri blade. It’s a really fun Heli to fly.

Take care,

Luis

Hi Luis,

happy to hear!

Yes, with higher TTE, the governor is using throttle more fiercely to manage the tail torque, and this generates log file entries (directly related or not, just info that the governor runs either into full throttle or into low throttle limit).
If it's still OK with those entries, basically nothing to worry, it's just the way it is, like a binary throttle pedal—in a car, you could do that, too, and depending on the situation and gear you're in, it might work and even be fun, be quick, but if you loose traction, the result is ... spectacular ^^
Pushing the limit it is.

Back to heli, of course if the main rotor rpm drops too much, or if the tail starts acting up, it's too much, or you might reconsider your flying routine smiling smiley

Yes it’s working great now at 76. At 125 it would loose power almost as though it was a soft cutoff to the point if you were inverted it would not have enough power to pull out of it. And of course with a ton of the governor warnings low and full throttle limit. So I wouldn’t recommend 125 and that’s just testing with pitch pumps no crazy flying style.

Hi,

yeah, also with (crazy) pitch pumps*, pwm/throttle will work like crazy, with high TTE.
And with every pump, rpm will drop a bit, not enough time to recover, so eventually ...

*nothing anyone does continuously even when flying a crazy routine winking smiley

Power is nothing without control ^^
