Hello,
I have recently purchased a Vcontrol Touch and am converting my first model.
Logo 550SX, scorpion Motor and a Kontronik Kolibri 140LV with telemetry connected and working.

I have been using this setup to familiarise myself with the Touch so there have been many start ups, but no flights.

Today I had the following error.
The Swash twitched up and down and only stopped when I removed power.

24.09.2024 16:30:35 Good;Calibration Finished
24.09.2024 16:30:36 Warn;IMU Sensor delivers no data
24.09.2024 16:30:36 Error;IMU Stopped delivering Data
24.09.2024 16:30:36 Error;IMU Data delivers all zeros
24.09.2024 16:30:43 Good;Battery selected manually: OPTI 5000

My flight logs are in the VBC-t Cloud stamp is 24-09 @16:30:29

Okay - is this happening all the time from now on or was it only once?

Hello Rainer,
Just this one time, wanting to check if it is OK to fly?

Power is from the Kolibri BEC (6.0V) master in ESC and Slave power in Aux3

Thanks

Hello John,

could you please try some more times if it occours again? Also move the model to see if the corrections are there? - I want to be sure it was probably a power up issue only.

Hello,
I did a number 20+ power cycles yesterday evening with no IMU errors.

On one power up the Neo flashed Red/Green and the Touch did not connect.
I was cycling the power quickly so it could just have been a timing thing.

I did notice in the Touch Archive the options for battery, flights were greyed out.

I will try some more testing and let you know the findings.

Thanks

Hi,

if it was only a one-off, it was probably power supply-related. But keep an eye on it anyway.
With Kontronik, it's unfortunately more likely, if in doubt I'd recommend a buffer battery to power on, I mean, it's also recommended by Kontronik to have one. A battery delivers power instantly, while the BEC might struggle at power on, particularly if the servos draw high currents instantly, jumping to attention.

What you reported last was indeed possibly just a timing issue. A NEO or EVO VLink will go into bind mode after like 10 seconds, if it doesn't find its transmitter during that time. Same if you open the bind dialog and leave it open during power-on of the model.

If the transmitter is very close to the receiver (transceiver, actually, both send and receive), the handshake might not happen properly because of near-field noise. Some distance between the two might help, or a slightly different orientation, and possibly more likely indoors than outdoors.

Still, check the antenna status and do a range check (10 m walk around the model, on the ground), just to check that off the imaginary list.

Best,

Hello, and thanks.
I was indoors and the model and Touch were very close together.

I have ordered a capacitor for voltage protection, will this help.

Thanks

Hi John,

a capacitor will help once the system is up and running.

The problem here could have been a power surge or other negative spike in the power supply (BEC) right after power on, during initialization.
In fact, a capacitor could worsen that, if it draws power instantly, at that important time of the power-on process, drawing additional current from the BEC.

But guess a test will tell. And again, if it's a one-off, and only at power-on, nothing to worry. Keep an eye on the logs, and be attentive.
If, for instance, initialization is repeated (init failed, retrying), this could also be evidence. Then better power down, wait a couple of seconds, power up again, to get a clean log of the init.

Many thanks for your prompt responses.

I will, as you suggest, continue but monitor logs for any signs of problems.

Thanks
