Kosmik 210 BEC warning - ESC has set an Error

Kosmik 210 BEC warning - ESC has set an Error
June 01, 2026 12:14PM
Hi,

I am using a Kosmik 210 with the BEC set to 7.4V, powering Futaba 275 and 276 servos. When I rapidly pump the pitch, I get a warning message.

ESC has set an Error. Land immediately and check Log

The Kosmik 210 BEC is rated for 10A continuous and 30A peak. I do not see any voltage drop during the test, so I am not sure if this is Kontronik app reporting issue or an actual ESC warning. I have seen the same warning on a Kolibri 90LV as well, so it does not seem to be specific to this ESC.

Could you please let me know if this warning is expected?

Here are two videos:

Without a backup capacitor: max BEC current is about 20A.

With a backup capacitor: max BEC current is about 15A.

Thank you.

Hello,

we just display what Kontronik says to us. So - seraching for a explanation when does this message appear - might be asked at Kontronik.

Please note that a very short voltage drop or overcurrent could probably be a reason for the ESC to set the error even when it was not long enough to bew seen in model info or log screen.

What might give you a bit more info (voltage) could be our Oszilloscope App for VBC touch and EVO (VBar EVO required):

https://www.vstabi.info/en/node/2379

I would be curious if the voltage drops there in both cases (with and without cap) too.

Thank RV,
The voltage only drops slightly. With the BEC set to 7.4V, it drops to around 7.3xV under load, so there is no significant or sudden voltage drop.
Only the warning makes me scared, Vbar log also show Kontronik BEC overtemp, 34 degree is not high.

Hi,

what temperature threshold is set, in the Kontronik? Because that, too, is 'just' an error flag set by the ESC for us, the ESC does the nominal-actual comparison itself.

Best,

Stop.

Please take note:

If a customer Temp threshold is set in the app - it mentiones:

ESC/BEC Temperature: xxx°C

In the log.

If Kontronik sets the flag - it is:

Kont. ESC Overtemperature
Kont. ESC Overcurrent
Kont. BEC Overtemperature
Kont. BEC Overcurrent

So - if one of those 4 Messages appears w/o any reason on your side => ask Kontronik.

Thank Eddi,

The default Esc/Bec temperature and bec voltage warning is Off. Even when I set it to 40, the current temperature is only 31–34, but the warning still comes.

Thank RV, the warning is Kont Bec overtemperature,
will try to contact Kontronik. I remember YGE had a similar "scary warning", and then it was fixed.

FYI,
This is reply from Kontronik

"
There is an issue where Mikado issues a BEC overtemperature warning even when the controller sends a BEC overcurrent warning.

We still need to determine whether we’re sending the warnings to the wrong address or if Mikado is receiving them incorrectly; however, we currently have a very high workload that is straining our development resources so much that we are unable to address this bug fix at this time.

If you have a ProgUNIT, please check the value listed for “BEC Current” in the “Warning” section.

If you can produce a BEC current of 15–20A but a lower value is entered in the warning, the controller will issue this warning. This was likely sent incorrectly by us, and Mikado then interprets it as a BEC overtemperature.

We always recommend flying with a buffer; so if you have the option and set the warning to, say, 16A, you shouldn’t receive any more warnings with the buffer in place.

The best way to determine the maximum BEC currents is to check the KOSMIK’s LOG on the SD card. These readings are more accurate and recorded at shorter intervals than the telemetry transmission.

Even with buffer pack i can get this on hard 3d sometimes, its never created an issue
