VBC touch failure
February 19, 2026 02:04AM
Hi
I bought a VBC touch at MikadoUSA a few months ago, serial: 11007070
Screen started to fail as the video attached shows and also looks like wants to be reset to default values
In flights one heli (luckily a little one) loosed the tail and radio screen was black and vibrating as in the video
Stopped flying and test without blades, i give inputs and the heli moves but esc not finishes to arm.
Regards

Hi,

the display flickering and turning off can have a simple reason: the battery is dead.
Please check (put it on a charger for an hour or two will help, even if the battery was fully drained, or remove the back cover, unplug, and measure.

The other screen is a diagnostic screen, which comes up when the UI can not be loaded for some reason.
Like a computer only showing it's BIOS screen because it somehow can not load Windows.

What you can do there:

. scroll down one page, tap USB (there's no confirmation dialog, it just does), connect to a computer, do a (drive)/right click/Properties/Tools/Check and repair disk, (only) then run VBar Control Manager—this may fix it even without significant data loss

. if that doesn't do it, hit (Format Disk) on the diagnostic screen, then use VBar Control Manager on the computer—this will set the transmitter from scratch, but also result in total data loss (on the transmitter), and you'll also have to re-do the transmitter setup, stick mode, switch assignments, load apps, set up a Rescue or Throttle Cut switch once, everything, as if it was new -> you could then still recover data from your cloud to the transmitter, though

If the issue persists, it's time for an RMA, and then MikadoUSA would be your go-to place, stateside (I guess?).
They offer inspection and repair (e.g. replace the screen if it was that, or the mainboard, or just the battery, depending), or we can see to a replacement.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience :-/

Eddi

Hi, luckily i got the screen working a few minutes connected via USB and i got the errors attached while updating.
I tried other battery from other VBC and same issues sometimes totally black, sometimes blinking or working okay.
Also when the disk was recognized by the computer i saw is completely empty.

Hi Mariano,

hm, sorry ... that seems to be a severe issue, then.

So ... whatever suits you better, go through MikadoUSA, or open a service ticket here, please.
I had a look at your service history with us and saw the this transmitter seems to have had issues with the display earlier?
Was anything changed or replaced, back then?

Or ... on the other hand, checking the device's App Store, it seems to be fully updated ... did you manage in the meantime?

Kind regards

Eddi

Hi Eddie, okay i will tell this to my friend so he talk with MikadoUSA and manage to ship there

My service history is about my personal VBC EVO, this topic was created about a friend's VBC touch radio.

My EVO is working perfect. Only thing i have to do is replace the new module because the version i got doesn't work with buddybox, the rest is okay.

Thank u for your time.

Hi, it's been a while..

My friend ended up buying a new radio from Mikado USA.

Since I'll be at IRCHA, i can bring the radio (11007070) if someone from Mikado Germany will be there to see if it can be repaired whenever it's convenient.

That would be possible?

Hi,

as far as I know Mikado USA will be there, and someone from Germany, too.

Thing is, with today's travel impediments, you can probably not bring much of anything into the U.S. (or back) just so, apart from the fact that the luggage allowance is also somewhat limited.

So if there is something specific to bring, please arrange it with Mikado USA, and we will see to it that we send stock ahead of time.
Maybe it can even be repaired on site during the time of the event.

Hi Eddi.
The radio started malfunctioning after about four months of use. My friend ended up buying a new one so he could keep flying without interruption. To avoid the high shipping costs, he decided to wait for an event where I could hand the faulty radio over for repair.

We understand that the repair may require a new mainboard and display. However, he would like to know whether those parts are covered under warranty or if they would need to be purchased. There is no problem on our side with replacing the parts if can be provided at IRCHA.

Thank u
Regards

Hi,

well, if the malfunction is some sort of component failure (and not e.g. caused by an accident or by somehow modifying or otherwise messing with the transmitter), it's of course covered by warranty. That's what warranty is for.

Normally, we'd check what component is malfunctioning, replace it, test everything, return the transmitter.
Standard procedure.

I can still not be sure if it's just the screen, and if the software crash was a result during testing, e.g. powering down hot or something, or if it's an issue with the mainboard itself, or both.

If Mikado USA has stock (touch mainboard, screen), you could maybe try it out on site at IRCHA:
. open the back cover, mind the three wires
. disconnect the display, connect a spare display with flying wires without disassembling
. if it's OK, then, try formatting the internal storage from a computer and/or via diagnostic screen
. set up again using VBar Control Manager (WiFi might not work in this state)
. if that works without hitches (error messages), actually swap out the display, re-assemble, set up again (Welcome App, Stick Mode, Switches etc.), try it out

. otherwise, replace the mainboard, try again before bolting everything together again to see if the existing screen now works, else replace both

They're quite expensive components, and also quite costly to send into the U.S., this is why we want to replace only what's required.

Another option would be, if the transmitter is still in quite pristine condition, and if they have stock, that Mikado USA replaces it for him under terms of warranty, and we see to it afterwards, let it be our problem, then. Or if it has seen some serious use (doubt it ... but for sake of completeness), with a co-payment.

Hi Eddi.

The new radio my friend bought was offered at a special replacement price while we waited for an opportunity to repair the faulty one.

I will ask them if they have some spare mainboard and display to try at IRCHA and i let you know.

Hi again,

do that. And if they need something ahead, from us, there's still time to arrange it.

Cheers

Hi Eddi.

I talked with Bryan from MikadoUSA and he told to me contact Ron Thomas as he may has the mainboard and display. So Ronald confirmed to me have the parts and also fix the radio for me at IRCHA.
This procedure can be made using radio warranty or is up to Ron? How would that be like?

Regards!

Hi Mariano,

great!

Now, in general, if there's no evidence for self-inflicted damage (e.g. a drop, water damage, electrical damage, mechanical damage, tampering or such), the repair is covered by the usual 2-year limited warranty.

We're not looking deliberately for a way out of our obligation, don't get me wrong smiling smiley this reservation is just for sake of completeness.

Best,

Eddi

Hi Mariano

We will be at IRCHA and work with Ron to get the radio fixed. We will determine there if warranty or not.
