Hi,
technically, the harder the dampeners the higher is the mechanical gain, figuratively speaking The more direct the head acts or reacts.
So it could even be necessary to dial down the overall gain, if you see or more likely hear oscillation building, in hard stops.
But since VBar has so much filtering and so many feed forwards and adaptive components implemented, it's imo a) not necessary to max out the gain and b) if not maxed out already, there's a very wide band of values which work well.
