Programming Neo mini with pc or mac

Now that there is a USB cable for the Neo mini, does this mean it can be programmed on a PC or Mac and linked with a SBUS receiver without the need for a vbar control touch?

Not at all - keep in mind you need 2 of the servo ports for the "USB Updater Cable"

The NEO mini MUST be programmed and used with a VBC or VBCt.

actually, without the boot plug in place, the servo connectors act as servo signal outputs, so the USB wire doesn't do anything.
And with the boot plug in place, the NEO mini is recoded in a way so the other two servo connectors act as RXD/TXD for USB, for updating, making the NEO a USB removable drive temporarily.

It's pointless to try, no backdoor, it won't ever connect to the setup software.

If someone sets it up for you using his VBar Control (Pro required, to be able to change macrocell settings), so the NEO mini accepts a digital input like SBus, does the channel mapping, you can fly it with a different receiver, but you can't change any settings (but use your collective curves, dual rates and expo).

Thank you for the clarification. So basically you are saying it is technically impossible to connect to the setup software with the special USB cable. (Because I wouldn't mind disconnecting a couple of servo ports to setup SBUS and set some basic personal setup values for the Logo 200 NEO mini).

An alternative would be is to make an image available with SBUS and a reasonable channel mapping and setup for the logo 200. So non VBAR control users can install this image with the special USB cable. (But I understand that is probably not something you want to do for every model.)

Hi,

the NEO mini is supposed to be set up using the radio, and with VBar Control Touch, it can even be updated via the radio.
The USB cable is just a workaround for our customers with the classic VBar Control.

It's not supposed to be set up with a computer, and that's that.

If you are on a different brand of radio (which is perfectly OK!), the NEO mini is not for you, but the regular VBar NEO is.

Ok, thanks, I understand, but the VBAR NEO does not fit in the logo200...

... but a VBar Control might fit in your hands ...

I’m seriously considering buying one but I don’t like carrying multiple transmitters to the field.

But, I’m missing something very small like this SBUS receiver to convert all my other helicopters and drones to VBar control touch.

Having a NEO on the Helis - just enable the VLink and add antennas if possible ;-)

There is a VCopter pro available too - and of course you can use a NEO / mini NEO (when available) with a "VBasic" Firmware as external RX to feed your Copter flight system.
