VPlane Setup Question for Flaperons and Dual Elevator Servos

Good day. I am currently setting up a Decathlon that has flaps, that I would like to set up as flaperons, as well as dual elevator servos.

Problem 1: The flaperon mode, the servos do not have the same endpoints as the ailerons, plus it seems the servos move at different speeds. The servos are Hitec 7955.

Problem 2: The dual elevator servos do not move the same and when you trim on the ground, it only trims the left servo.

Problem 3: The flaperons do not trim with the ailerons.

I can download the model setup and macro cells if this would help. I do not want to take the "easy" route out and use another brand radio just to fly planes.

Also tell me which output is coonnected to which servo and the switch usage.

So i'll load into a VBar here and see, i am sure we'll get this manged.

Also - a image of the model so i have an idea about the wings and flaps.

Grabbed it at your cloud from a few days ago - and decided to start from scratch with the MC's ;-)

First - we need to set all wingmixer channels to -100/0/100

Then - think starting from the outputs.

So ...

- connect throttle and rudder to ESC / Tail
- connect one elevator servo to CH1, the other one to CH2
- connect the aileron servos to CH3 and CH4
- connect the flap servos to AUX2 and AUX3

Then we need to set up all (except rudder and throttle) these outputs listening to our mixing and having each its own center and throw (for single action max.) as well as limits (for multi action max). This will disconnect the signal chain between the wingmixer above and the phyiscal output but gives us full control, so we can program independend from the assignment in wingmixer which looks more clean.

So - set up a channel cell to:
CH1, CH2, CH3, CH4, AUX2, AUX3 - and Name it "Servo xy" to have a overview later.

This output channel cells must be feed by a mixer where all different inputs will be summed up.

We'll do this in general for all those 6 outputs - knowing it might be a overshoot on aileron but at all it is straight forward then for all 6 servos.

Set 6 mixer cells - starting at MC11 and assign the result to the channel cells above - so each output has its own mixer.

Now we need to feed the Mixers with the original signal. The original signal is always provided "hidden" as output value of its origin (e.g. AIleron at CH2 is there as result of MC CH2).

Please assign the signals:

- Elevator (was CH1 in wingmix) to the 2 Mixers MC11/12.
- Aileron (was CH2/3) to MC 13/14


Set directions of the servos right in the output channel cells for aileron and elevator. Also set endpoints and general trim.

Lets make the flaps in its original function working.

As we use flaperons - i think the flaps could not only get "down" - but also "up". So we need to take care that the elevator mixing with flaps works right, we only use 0-100% of the throw then.

We usually feed the flaps with 2 Macrocells - they are predefined when you start with a model type "with Flaps". Here we set them up in the same way. MC 09 is the delay (Channel) - MC 27 the 3-Level for the switch.

This signal passes the wingmixer and our own mixer receives it at the regarding CH4 and CH6 Inputs.

Now you can level the flaps and set the endpoints in the "Flap" direction as well as set up the amount of Flap in each SW position. Do NOT make a negative value here - just between 0 and 100%.

If you need some elvator mixing - go to the elavator expert (long press) in the wingmixer and dial in the amount and direction.

This is the basic setup so far. Now set all the directions, general trims and throws as well as gyro corrections.


As you have seen there is a mixer before each servo. This is the point to "feed" other signals in addition, e.g. for flaperons. So lets make them - and switchable.

Just feed one of its inputs with the regarding CH2/CH3 Aileron signals, but set a multiplexer driven by a switch in between.

Adjust throw and direction in the mixer cell.

Having just a little time this week due to schedule conflicts, I took my radio to work to get the programming done that was suggested in the above steps. Yesterday, I had a little time to get the Neo installed in the Decathlon. All I had time to do was to check the elevator. Spot on. Now when I trim inside the Autotrim, the elevator moves exactly the same. Thank you for this programming tutorial!

The lesson I have learned is, using the Macrocells over-rides the Neo setup in the wizard, once you get the wing mixers assigned as a specific function. ex. Elevator on CH1 & CH2, Ailerons on CH3 & CH4 and Flaps on Aux2 & Aux3. I will try to check how the wings work this even when I get done with work.

The MC are very powerful - you might have even more inputs who can be mixed if needed with this way here.
