Rpm telemetry from dle, saito, etc.. ignition modules

Is there any way to either log rpm data or have a real time display on the transmitter for engine rpm using the rpm output on a generic electronic ignition module?

Hi,

if the module outputs a generic rpm signal (like ESCs, hall, magnet sensors do), sure.

Just connect it to the RPM port on your VBar NEO.
Please mind that the NEO outputs r/c voltage there, so the module must be capable of running at your r/c voltage.

Then, set up the gear ratio/pre scaler in a way so you get a sensible readout.

Not on VBasic/VPlane. Sorry. RPM socket is only for Heli governor.

Use a Sensor hub as "interface" if needed.

Ah OK, I'm particularly concerned with some larger 4 stroke radial machine. This model uses 2 neos on board. one as the master and another as an extender. Does the sensorhub work as an application? Can it be run on one or the other neos already on board?

The Sensor hub requires a NEO which is used as a Telemetry interface only then. This NEO - although it might have Antennas - has no other functionality.

That's too bad, I suppose I'm out of luck with that. It sure would be a really great feature for vplane to have an rpm function similar to the nitro govenor interface on the helicopter. Without using the sensor hub. So many of these engines have the rpm/tach wire just sitting there. Could this even be considered for a future vplane update? Or is the hardware just not there to organize the feature?
