VPlane Mounting

I am wondering how Vbar must be mounted in planes which were not designed specifically for electronic stabilization. I'm guessing it must have a level surface, but level with respect to what? Do you use an imaginary line that cuts through the wing from front to back?

Good question ;-)

Levelled means it shouhld be levelled in a horizontal flight with some speed to get a average value.

Depending on the profiles, and general construction it can be like described from your side - it can also be not. But - don't measure too much, just estimate it with your eyes knowing how the plane flies straight forward.

I have in my mind to make some sort of adjustable mount where I can increase or decrease the elevator bias by turning a screw. That way I can try different angles reasonably quickly. Or is this something you can do in software?

Hi,

no, the sensors are calibrated with regard to each other.

But a slight offset won't matter.

On all planes that I have set up so far, if the mount was level in parallel of the longitudinal axis of the plane (the axis you would put the motorshaft in parallel with, without adding side thrust and down thrust), all was well.

If you find unwanted movements in flight, you can still e.g. use a kind of wedge to slightly alter the mounting position.

I mounted mine next to the servo tray. Most of these arf's are fairly level to the wing\stabilizer, I suspect the auto level figures out where level is, takes about 20 seconds to do the auto level thing where the plane setup is as simple as the heli setup ie estimation of level.

The first setup took us about 10-15 mintues as the screeens and menus are new, the test flight comprised of a lift off to altitude, activated auto trim, turned auto trim off and flew around to test the performance. I have to say I would give this a two thumbs up for ease of setup and the flight characteristics so far.

I use the original Pad from Silverline and mounted it in my Turbine powered Avanti on the wooden RC Board in the Nose.
On my F3A also but thats electric.

Programming Love it! So easy. Other Radios that I have had are so...ah...that´s why I go now complete on VBar Control.
Two Thumbs arn´t enough hehe
