wireless simulator and accurc

i have not fired up a simulator in several years. last i had accurc running was on vcontrol classic with the wireless kit (old vbar set up with simulator firmware if i recall--it has been years)

now, i have vcontrol EVO. And, i think this method will still work. but, of course it is better without wires and an extra box hanging off of my laptop. i would prefer to wirelessly connect through a common wifi access point.

however, in accurc i do not see the option to choose any device once the EVO is connected to the Wifi. And, adding a game controller it is not available either.

i have searched all the common places, youtube, here, forums...there are zero topics on accurc and the EVO. is it not compatible with this method?

Well - the Wifi SIM App sends UDP packets - and is currently implemented in Heli-X and Reflex only.

I see.

Even so, I still am unable to get the wireless sim to show up as a game controller in windows. Or, does it communicate some other way? How do I know if it is connected correctly, or if there is a problem—aside from needing heli-x or reflex?

So - are we talking about:

WiFi Sim - this only works with the regarding Simulators.

VSim (Vbar with satellite etc. bound to VBC) - how is it connected? Which interface is used?

The names are so similar, I wasn’t even aware they are separate products—it seemed to be the WiFi version of the vsim according to the name. So, that’s part of my confusion. It’s hard to guess with no documentation. .

But, yes the vsim continues to work as usual with a Vbar bound in simulator mode. I was trying to eliminate the need for all that mess attached to my laptop. So, in the case of this forum post I’m only speaking of wifi sim.

I understand now that it is not supported by AccuRC. But, before I spend $$ on an another simulator I was just trying to make sure I had the computer and Vcontrol communicating correctly. I have them both on the same wifi network. But, I don’t see anywhere in Windows that it is recognized—at least not as a game controller. Is there somewhere else I should see the Vcontrol device recognized?

In your Router of course ;-)

Hi,

to clarify a bit, also for co-readers:

VSim was the first gen solution, to allow wireless simulator operation. Here, a special version of the Mini VBar (extra hardware, firmware also available for legacy VBars which can run 6.0) plus an RX satellite, acts as a 2.4 GHz receiver and outputs a PPM signal (like anachronistic wired buddy port), which can be read by a PPM 2 USB adapter or even a simulator dongle, which then shows up as a USB HID (game controller).

In-between, you can use a VBar NEO VBasic and macrocells, as an interface between the transmitter and an USB 2 PPM dongle.

WiFi Sim (UDP protocol) is VBar Control Touch and later's way. Here, the respective simulator needs to have the destination device code implemented, so it can detect the transmitter and handshake with it.
No extra hardware required.

A developer of a simulator can always approach us for the specs, then implement a tiny bit of code it into his software.
Each simulator get's his individual ID.

Heli-X was first, Reflex second, but then ... silence, so far smiling smiley
So if AccuRC want it, too ... not a problem from our side.
