VBar Control Manager on Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8 not working
December 08, 2016 06:19AM
Hi there!

I just got my VControl and VBar Neo Pro+Rescue couple of days ago but I can't open the VBar Control Manager on my Mac, I already watched all the videos on vstabi.info, followed all the instructions, tried several different ways and nothing.
I downloaded it to the computer no problem and then opened the disc image "VBar Control Manager 1.3.4" and I got the next image with the four icons and I can open all of them except for the one for "VBar Control Manager", I tried to copied it to the applications folder and nothing happens it doesn't even flinch.

What am I missing?

I'm running a 2007 MacBook on Mac OS X Version 10.5.8 Leopard.

By the way I never had a problem running my VBar 5.3.4 software if that helps.

Thanks in advance, any help would be really appreciated, I'm dying to use my VControl.

Hi Juan,

can you please check Utilities/Console, what messages pop up when you have that open and then start the VBC Manager?

Kind regards

Hi,

thank you. Hopefully our developer can read something from it.

What JRE version are you running? Please start up the regular VBar NEO 6.3 software and check out the Info dialog.

Kind regards

Unsupported Class Version error is a mismatch of the JRE Versions.

Hi again,

thought so. Here's a link directly from Apple, which might help.

This is what I have installed Eddi and Uli:

Java 2 Runtime environment 1.5.0_30-161

Thanks Juan

Hi Juan,

hm, strange, although I do not have 10.5 anywhere, any more, I know it did work at that time. And your installation should be OK, since the 5.3 software is running, the requirements are the same.

I have just checked the info.plist files for all current software, and it's 1.4* ... now it could only be (in my opinion) that there are different requirements within the actual class file? Uli, can you please check?

Juan, what you could do is try and uninstall the JRE (just delete from 1.6.0.jdk (or similar, 1.6.0 is the latest legacy version on my MBA running Sierra) from /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines), then re-install. But my best guess is, it won't change a thing :-/

Edit: 1.6 seems to require 10.7 Lion or later ...

Kind regards

Hi,

OK, we are on it. Everything's made for 1.5 at least so in general, it should work.

Did you copy this from the Screenshot (as above, from the 5.3 software)? If not, please attach a screenshot, just to make sure. There we see which version the software calls.

One thing you could do would be to update to 10.7 and install 1.6_..., this works reliably.
But probably we can provide a fix to make the Manager also backward compatible again.

I would also be curious if the VBar NEO 6.3 software (equivalent to the 5.3 PC software) works?

Please be so kind and send e-mail to service (at) mikado-heli (dot) de so I can send you something to test.

Kind regards

Yes Eddi, both the VBar Neo 6.3 and the 5.3 softwares work just fine, I'm sending you screen shots to the email address you mentioned above right now.

Thank you so much for your support!

Juan
