Changing Vbar on 800

Hi, just wanting to check for problems changing Vbar on my 800. Couple of months ago the original YGE speedie blew up on the bench after 4 years of flying perfectly. Put in a Scorp Tribunis and ever since I'm getting both cyclic & tail kicks under load, never on bench. Log file has a lot of Sensor Data checksum errors and occasional Sensor Connection broken error.

I originally didn't suspect vbar because the ESC blew up on the bench and the heli hasn't crashed so I tried several methods for power supply to vbar, ESC BEC, Voltage reg & straight 2s lipo but nothing helped.

So about to drop a Neo into it to see if that fixes it, question is, is there anything special about original vbar firmware for 800 or will the Neo be fine to drop into 800, thanks

Hello Russ,

having a NEO there is a parameter called "Heli Size". Using a VBC the right one will be loaded while selecting the 800xx preset.

Kicks under load - consider that the tribunis needs less collective and cyclic ad than the YGE (10 collective,3 cyclic for example) - so it might be a tail overload in hard inputs with the old settings.

Anyway - checksums are someting bad - i would check the motor insulation, it might come from there.

Thanks Rainer, you've given me a few things to check first. I suspected motor and have tried 2 without change.

Hi Rainer, well I tried adjusting the collective & cyclic add right down low with no change in result. So I've put a Neo in it and now trying to figure out how to load the 800 preset without a VBC. I'm running Futaba Sbus so don't have a VBC, is there another way to load heli presets?
