since Touch and EVO share the same software (Apps), I'm pretty confident that it will receive the same support for a considerable time.
Contrary to VBar Control Classic, where—after long years of normal use, or shorter periods of heavy use—you might have had to clear up memory, it's yet unheard of that a VBar Control Touch ran out of storage.

And if so, there's the cloud (for those who want to keep their whole flight history ...), so you could easily clean up your transmitter's memory.

Yes, the Touch bundles come with a full transmitter set (including the wall power supply), plus a full VBar EVO VLink set, both as if they were purchased separately, just in one box.

My question is this: how much longer might the Vbar Touch have left in terms of updates? I’ve noticed that the internal memory is considerably smaller than on an EVO+, but that’s too expensive for me, as I don’t fly as regularly as I used to… I want a transmitter that offers good value for money and the reliability Mikado has always provided.

Also, do the Touch bundles include the charging adapter?

no, once set up, it's either-or, or both (then, you can buddy box with VBar Control as the master).

So, Futaba only at power-on, an the internal receiver will remain dormant, or VBar Control present at power on, then it will either be only that, or if you have Futaba on, too, Futaba will be the buddy.

Do system sounds chime, swiping the menu etc.?

This transmitter is not yet registered (would be better, if, but not mandatory), but it seems as everything is installed properly.
No Pro/Value Apps either, which would require individual programming, so normally, it should work just so.

the vibration analysis shows peaks at frequencies from 0...500 Hz or rpm equivalent from 0...30.000 Hz.

Means, you usually have three sources:

. engine rpm, usually in the 13,000-16,000 1/min range
. main rotor rpm, depending on the model, 1,500-2,100 1/min (?)
. tail rotor rpm, 4.5-5 times that, so 6,500-10,000 1/min (?)

So the highest peak is usually the engine rpm.

Now if that (or any) peak is unusually high (there's a horizontal threshold line which helps), there's something which can be improved.
All the parts rotating at the same rpm (motor, clutch, pinion, gear mesh there) are suspect, obviously.
Another thing I learned from Kyle Dahl some time ago was that the pipe and/or the gasket (also affecting it's resonance) can also have quite an impact ... but I'm so non-nitro :D that I can't be of much more help here.

This applies to nitro engines as well. How do I investigate vibration in a nitro engine? For instance, I want to determine if the clutch is unbalanced or if there is some other type of engine-related vibration.

Now, in general, if there's no evidence for self-inflicted damage (e.g. a drop, water damage, electrical damage, mechanical damage, tampering or such), the repair is covered by the usual 2-year limited warranty.

We're not looking deliberately for a way out of our obligation, don't get me wrong :) this reservation is just for sake of completeness.

I talked with Bryan from MikadoUSA and he told to me contact Ron Thomas as he may has the mainboard and display. So Ronald confirmed to me have the parts and also fix the radio for me at IRCHA.
This procedure can be made using radio warranty or is up to Ron? How would that be like?

The new radio my friend bought was offered at a special replacement price while we waited for an opportunity to repair the faulty one.

I will ask them if they have some spare mainboard and display to try at IRCHA and i let you know.

well, if the malfunction is some sort of component failure (and not e.g. caused by an accident or by somehow modifying or otherwise messing with the transmitter), it's of course covered by warranty. That's what warranty is for.

Normally, we'd check what component is malfunctioning, replace it, test everything, return the transmitter.
Standard procedure.

I can still not be sure if it's just the screen, and if the software crash was a result during testing, e.g. powering down hot or something, or if it's an issue with the mainboard itself, or both.

If Mikado USA has stock (touch mainboard, screen), you could maybe try it out on site at IRCHA:
. open the back cover, mind the three wires
. disconnect the display, connect a spare display with flying wires without disassembling
. if it's OK, then, try formatting the internal storage from a computer and/or via diagnostic screen
. set up again using VBar Control Manager (WiFi might not work in this state)
. if that works without hitches (error messages), actually swap out the display, re-assemble, set up again (Welcome App, Stick Mode, Switches etc.), try it out

. otherwise, replace the mainboard, try again before bolting everything together again to see if the existing screen now works, else replace both

They're quite expensive components, and also quite costly to send into the U.S., this is why we want to replace only what's required.

Another option would be, if the transmitter is still in quite pristine condition, and if they have stock, that Mikado USA replaces it for him under terms of warranty, and we see to it afterwards, let it be our problem, then. Or if it has seen some serious use (doubt it ... but for sake of completeness), with a co-payment.

My friend ended up buying a new one so he could keep flying without interruption. To avoid the high shipping costs, he decided to wait for an event where I could hand the faulty radio over for repair.

We understand that the repair may require a new mainboard and display. However, he would like to know whether those parts are covered under warranty or if they would need to be purchased. There is no problem on our side with replacing the parts if can be provided at IRCHA.

as far as I know Mikado USA will be there, and someone from Germany, too.

Thing is, with today's travel impediments, you can probably not bring much of anything into the U.S. (or back) just so, apart from the fact that the luggage allowance is also somewhat limited.

So if there is something specific to bring, please arrange it with Mikado USA, and we will see to it that we send stock ahead of time.
Maybe it can even be repaired on site during the time of the event.
