LOGO 200 V8: Check and update ESC firmware version

Before you begin

Obviously, any damage done during this process is unfortunately on you, dear reader, like with all DIY things we do, all the time, we take calculated risks ^^
Particularly damage resulting from misconnection/reverse polarity, but also when testing on the bench (w/o blades), and when maidening again.
If in doubt, please contact your local dealer for help, you may also send in your heli for us to update it (or painstakingly remove the ESC, and mount it again later, and mind doing the software updates and a test flight ...).

What do you need?

  • Bluetooth-Module OMPHOBBY OSHM4118
  • 2 JST-couplings for the telemetry wires (or other electrical connection, make sure there can be no connection or short circuit between the signal wires and/or the power supply)
  • 1 OMP-servo connector (or other suitable and short circuit-proof power supply)
  • Suitable soldering station
  • Heat shrink tube for insulation

  • iPhone or iPod Touch w/ iOS 12.4 or later and the Sunnysky App (also works on macOS 11.0 or later, on Mac w/ M-Processor—Sunnysky's Android App does not seem to work for this application, though)
  • OMPHOBBY ESC-Firmware 1.9 (download and unpack)

 

Connection

  • Connect your Bluetooth-Module correctly (color coding, polarity) to the wires of the ESC. Power supply can be obtained from the VBar itself (AUX port), or you can use a separate power supply (4,8-8,4 V).
  • Use extreme caution when handling the telemetry wires: do not accidentally damage the wires or connectors!
  • You can also connect your VBar EVO micro to your computer at this time, to update it, too.
  • After the update, discconnect your power supply and re-connect the telemetry wires (yellow into TELE 1, white into TELE 2). 


 


 

Check Firmware-Version and update

  • connect you power supply (in this example setup, ESC, VBar EVO micro and Bluetooth Module are conveniently powered up using the flight battery)
  • start your Sunnysky-App, tap the Bluetooth-Symbol
  • select BT-Module 'BLE-####' (might need to scroll down)—#### = four digit number
  • (Firmware) shows the current Firmware-Version 
    1.4 is the old/original version from ESCs on LOGO 200 V8
    1.9 is the current Version, which is optimal for use with VBar V8 Firmware for micro helis w/ tail motor
  • (Import File) loads the current Firmware 1.9 into the App
  • (Firmware Update) starts the actual update of the ESC
  • Attention do not make any further changes to the ESC setup!
  • at the same time, you can also udpate your VBar EVO micro from the computer, in this example setup using Windows 11 ARM in Oracle Virtual Box on Mac, otherwise, please update your VBar online over the air using VBar Control, Transmitter Settings, VBar NEO/EVO Updater
  • Your VBar EVO micro must be updated to be able to use ESC-Firmware 1.9!


 

Preset for LOGO 200 V8 with optimized ESC support

  • Attention please also update your VBar Control Touch or EVO via Transmitter Settings, App Updater
  • Connect your heli again to your transmitter
  • Go Model Setup, Edit Setup
  • Copy the Trim-Settings (long tap on Trim), close Setup
  • Now select Modell Setup, New Model Setup, Mikado New, ESC FW new LOGO 200
  • You can also download the current setup (as of 01-06-2026) here.
  • Please also see the latest release notes (as of 16-07-2026).
  • After the settings have been loaded into your VBar EVO micro, you can enter your trim settings again directly (long tap on Trim)
  • Check control inputs
  • Job done!

 

 Troubleshooting

  • The ESC beeps continously, VBar Control shows an error message 'Error code ... land immediatly'—Firmware-Version and control input do not match: Firmware 1.4 needs to be set to 333 Hz/1.520 µs in Setup/Governor (control like a regular tail servo), Firmware 1.9 needs to be set to LOGO 200 there (digital protocol).
