RPM sensor from align governor (stock)

Firmware 5.1.5 Pro Governor
Futaba T8 transmitter
Futaba S-Bus receiver


Changes that mus be done to use the sensor:
Cut the align plug away and solder the 3 wires to a old servo cable in the following way

Sensor ------ Servo plug
white --- orange or white (signal lead)
red --- black or brown (-)
black --- red (+)

Thats all you need to do using this sensor on the fan.
The sensor is plugged into the "Sensor II" socket, the throttle servo into the "Servo" socket.

The transmitter has been set up this way:

Switch SG (right top) for AR with Motor off and Bailout:
- Switch pulled towards pilot: Flight mode Autorotation, Motor off, Bank 0
- Switch in mid position: Flight mode normal, Motor at idle, Bailout armed, Bank 0
- Switch pushed away from pilot: Flight mode Idle 1, Motor at normal throttle curve for start/spoolup, no headspeed requested, Bank1

Switch SE (left top) for changing idle modes / flight conditions:
- Switch pushed away from pilot: Flight mode Idle 1, Motor at normal throttle curve for start/spoolup, no headspeed requested, Bank1
- Switch in mid position: Flight mode Idle 2, Motor at low 3D curve, headspeed 1800 1/min requested, Bank 2
- Switch pulled towards pilot: Flight mode Idle 3, Motor at high 3D curve, headspeed 2080 1/min requested, Bank 3

Please take note that the SG (AR) switch must turn the system safely into AR / Bailout at every position of the SE (Idle mode) switch.

Some pilots reported trim issues for the throttle servo.

My research gave me the following results:

- the trim will have no effect below its center value
- this is noticeable at the servo monitor in TX also
- a servo plugged into the Ch3 Port of my S-Bus gave me also no movement below this point

So ... it is definitely not a VBar issue.

I found out that in my T8 are 2 kind of servo throw settings. The 1st number is for the throw from one single function (like throttle stick on a plane) and the other one is the absolutely max. value with possibly added mixers from other functions (e.g. a mixer from aileron to throttle).

I also found out that the trim switches seem to be handled as an internal "mixer" here with about +- 25% mixing value. For Example .. if you set 100% on both values described above and have the stick at the bottom and trim centered ... there are -100% at the output. Lowering the trim to the end has no effect now!

So ... what to do ... increase the complete Throttle channel value to 120 ...125% (100 + lower trim range) and keep the 1st Value (for Throttle Stick function) at 100%.

It's not a trick ... it's a feature in your TX ;-)

In Addition to this i would proceed with the throttle linkage adjustment afterwards:

- unmount the linkage
- select Gov II
- set servo travels to 100 (both)
- set Throttle trim and Stick to motor off
- lengthen the rod now for a fully closed throttle
- switch to collective adjustment mode
- give full throttle with collective stick
- set the maximum throw with the slider now

I had a little trouble by doing some autos with the heli. IMHO there is a too short tail fin at this bird. Our Mikado Logo 600 fin is about 2cm longer and fits perfect when you cut a little piece (the tail shaft bearing outlet) away with a dremel tool.

Since i had this ... no more trouble with damaged tail blades (bad luck for EDGE).

So ... Mikado is a tuning part for Align ;-)
